The sound of the NYZ Alto is inspired by the New York made alto pieces of the 40's and 50's. The rounded, medium sized chamber, medium baffle, and gently tapering squeeze throat give this piece a deep, fat, round sound with enough edge to play lead on, and enough warmth and dynamic range to play sensitive ballads in a small room. The medium length elliptical facing and precise tip work give it clean articulation and instant response. Gilad Atzmon plays on this model in a 5 tip (.073), and says, "It is fast, it projects, it is warm, it is everything I dreamed of!" Available in sizes from 5 (.073) to 8 (.085). Made from Zinner Ebonite.
